Draft Interactive PDF: Villa Savoye

Villa Savoye - Circulation
Le Corbusier

Villa Savoye for Le Corbusier was an outlet, explaining through form the increasing use of machines and in specific, automobiles in the developing world. Le Corbusiers own fascination of machinery is carried through the circulation of the house, taking into regard paths of motion much like a car.

For example, the ground level curves to the radius of the turning circle of a car of that time, and the ramps display a sense of linear motion, while in contrast the spiral stairwells convey a much more rotational behaviour of cars.

Week 4 : Build AR Captures

These are some test models I've imported into BuildAR, and I'm thoroughly impressed with its power and dynamics. I can't wait to finish this off :)

Week 4 : Reflection

Honestly, I'm amazed at what I've been able to do with this software, and given a slight nudge in the right direction. The development of my creatures, buildings and environments added with sketches and concept art (which are influenced by my architects) have blown me away to the degree of evolution possible in such a short span of time. I never thought We would be able to create such dynamic works of architecture, but adding the BuildAR program to 3DS MAX models is astonishing, how we can quite literally 'virtually' have our models in our hands. The potential of this program for both our own further knowledge and architectural prospects is paramount, and I'm blown away to be part of this assignment. I can honestly say I've explored some pretty interesting concepts, both architectural and otherwise, and I've learnt so much.

Week 4 : Marker Development

This is a cool concept and I hope I can further this design for my Build AR Marker Box.

I wanted to capture my city environment silhouettes as the markers, as it reflects a very iconic view of a city through its cityscape. This is just a draft and will probably change as I further develop them but this is just a draft.

Week 4: Example of Augmented Reality

This is an awesome example of AR that I found back in 2009. It shows the renewable energy source from an energy company, with two different scenarios; one being wind power (where blowing into the mike animates the wind turbines) and I think a solar panel field? Not sure. Either way, you have to check this out, its amazing for almost 3 years ago. :)

Week 1: Paper Models Rendered

For our first tutorial, we created an interesting piece of paper architecture out of one continuous A4 sheet. We were then asked to reproduce these paper models in 3DS Max or SketchUp, as identically as possible. I enjoyed this exercise, even something simple as a piece of paper can become a complex mesh of polygons when translated to a digital projection.

Paper Architecture

In my tutorial today, I found a website with some really cool designs that translate from 2D paper sheets to 3D paper models.
